I braved the Friday afternoon rush hours in the Bay area to head up to Lake Tahoe for a very short weekend. The scenery is stunning, with granitic outcrops everywhere. Despite a lack of clouds, experiencing this place on a bright sunny day is something to remember. Since I was staying at South Lake Tahoe, I rented a bicycle to reach the Rubicon trailhead. A 14 miles return trip on this trail is worth the effort with beautiful views of Emerald Bay and the lake. I definitely recommend watching the sunset on the east shore and the sunrise from Eagle Falls overlooking Emerald Bay.
