In my opinion, Hyenas do not deserve to be part of the African “ugly fives”. They do have an odd shape with their short back legs and thick and powerful neck and jaws. They are also very cute, in their own way, particularly when you can interact with them. They are curious animals, particularly their cubs, and stoping near a den is a guarantee for a great experience. They are so interested that they came right by the vehicle and one of them started shewing on the left shoe of our tracker at Londolozi, Elmon Mhlongo, who was seating in the tracker chair in the front of the vehicle.
