Thinking of this region, some words come to mind: vast, solitude, canyons, colors, rocks, adventure, storms.

Fiery Furnace in Arches National Park with La Sal mountains in the distance is one of the most stunning sunset location in the Southwest

Clockwise: Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park, a stunning sunrise location I have experienced quite a few times; Anteloppe Canyon in Arizona, the most stunning slot canyon with light beams shining through around mid day; Muley Point in Utah with Monument Valley in the distance, my favorite place to camp in the country.

Another really good viewpoint in Arches with Balanced Rock in Arches, best seen on a crisp sunset in Winter.

On a chilly morning, by -15ºC, I took this photograph of the Colorado River meandering through the red mesa of the Moenkopi formation, from Dead Horse Point.
