Texas Gulf Coast

Several conversations with my brother who has never visited the US lead to the creation of this page. I wanted him to realize that Texas has more than just desert. Living in Houston gives easy access to the Texas Gulf Coast and its subtropical climate. I hope these pictures will give justice to the biodiversity of our region.

Brazos Bend State Park

Located on the outskirt of Houston, this state park offers a great retreat for the Houstonians trying to escape the busy and noisy urban environment. The nature lovers, birders and photographers will all enjoy the close encounters with a diverse wildlife, including alligators. They are a lot easier to spot here than in Florida or Louisiana. I was quite surprised on my first visit to see some large specimen sunbathing on the trails. I have since got to appreciate their “company” when visiting.
